WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

• You and your partner will learn how to use self-hypnosis and your partner will learn how to help you focus your attention during birthing.

• You will gain an understanding of how the birthing muscles are intended to work. Fear causes three physical reactions in the body—tightening of the muscles, reduced blood flow, and the release of catacholamines (hormones that increase the pain and discomfort of childbirth).

• You will learn how to activate the body’s endorphins (natural opiates), replacing the stress hormones that constrict the muscles and cause pain.

• You will release old beliefs and fears about birthing as well as address concerns about pregnancy, birthing, and parenting. You will develop a deeper bond with your baby prior to birth, and feel the baby as a participant in the birth. The connection of the mother, baby and companion is very satisfying.

• You will read the HypnoBirthing® Book, practice with CDs, and watch videos to inspire you and give you models for the kind of birth you want to experience.

in a series of five 2.5 hour sessions. Additional classes as need arises.
